23.10.06
It looks like Human Nature have another smash on their hands! The guys have clocked up their second #1 album this year, with their second instalment of classics 'Dancing In the Street: The Songs of Motown II' debuting at #1 on the ARIA album chart this week. Human Nature are also confirmed to perform at the 2006 ARIA Awards in Sydney this Sunday - grab a ticket now or tune in for the live broadcast on Ten from 7.30pm.
Speaking on behalf of Human Nature, Andrew Tierney said "Having the new album come in at #1 is just a huge deal for us. The chance to be singing the songs we've always loved and to know that there's so many people wanting to hear us do it too, is a pretty special thing. For us, "Dancing In The Street" is an even better album than the first record, so we're glad it's been received so well."
The band were performing at the Sony Foundation True Colours Ball in Sydney on Saturday night when the results came through. Denis Handlin AM, Chairman and CEO, Sony BMG Australia & New Zealand, was on hand to congratulate the boys in person, commenting "The number one debut and platinum sales on this album only cements all of Human Nature's hard work and the fantastic achievement of the first Motown album."
'Dancing in the Street' reinforces the extraordinary success of Human Nature's five-times Platinum album 'Reach Out: The Motown Record', which spent 50 weeks in the charts (three weeks in the #1 spot) and earned them two 2006 ARIA Award nominations - Highest Selling Album and Best Adult Contemporary Artist - making for a grand total of 15 noms over their 11 year history!
